Mechanical Systems
Every home requires a heating system, usually, forced air furnaces or boiler systems. Roth systems are very good and each has their advantages. However, for any system to give you the most efficient heat for your money, they should be professionally serviced every year.
The way to save energy and reduce heating expenses would obviously be to replace an aging furnace, particularly one that is more than 15 years old, with a high-efficiency model. High-efficiency furnaces with an Energy Star label have an Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) rating of 91% to 97%, as opposed to about 80% for a standard furnace. A furnace that is 25 years or older, averages only 60% .
The most common heating system is the forced air furnace. A yearly service would include checking and cleaning the burners. In addition, the heat exchanger is a very vital component that should be checked by an experienced service Technician. A yearly professional tune-up should insure that your furnace is working at peak efficiency and that you do not have any safety problems.
Homeowners should also do their part to help keep the furnace clean by cleaning or replacing furnace filters regularly for the type of filter system you have. This will also help the furnace run more efficiently.
